How to get here

From Johannesburg/Pretoria take the N1 north towards Polokwane. Take the N4 Rustenburg split. A signboard indicates Pilanesberg to the left on route 91.

Best time to visit

Summers can get hot, but visitors to Pilanesberg will enjoy the park all year round.

Where to stay

Pilanesberg offers a variety of affordable accommodation, like the self-catering Manyane, Bakgatla and Metswedi camps. The Tshukudu, KwaMaritane and Bakubung game lodges are also situated in the reserve.

Around the area

Sun City, with its entertainment centre, golf course, water world and casino, is right next door.

Tours to do

Activities include game drives, either self-driven or guided, game walks and birding. Pilanesberg also operates balloon safaris.

Tandem Skydive Experience
Tandem skydiving is unquestionably the safest way to experience skydiving for the first time.

• The Tandem Skydive experience begins with a 15 minute detailed briefing. This covers all aspects of the skydive including the tandem parachute system, the exit from the aircraft, the freefall body position, the parachute flight, and the parachute landing
• Each person is fitted with a specifically designed tandem harness and goggles and is assigned to a Tandem Instructor
• Basic freefall training is provided
• The climb to altitude takes approximately 20 minutes
• Attached to a highly experienced Tandem Instructor you exit the aircraft and step into the exhilarating world of freefall, overhead the spectacular Ancient Pilanesberg Volcano Crater and the Pilanesberg National Park
• At the safe, correct and predetermined altitude the Tandem Instructor will activate the main parachute
• At the safe, correct and predetermined altitude the Tandem Instructor will activate the main parachute
• During the 5 – 7 minute incredibly scenic parachute ride, the Tandem Instructor will fly you back towards the operations base for the landing. You are welcome to have a fly of the parachute but the Tandem Instructor will perform the landing
• Each person’s entire experience is professionally filmed, photographed, edited and provided on CD and DVD. On request a special master group edit can be produced and duplicated for everyone in the group
• Each participant receives a prestigious certificate of achievement.

Skydive Pilanesberg,Pilanesberg,Tandem Skydive Pilanesberg The SkyDive Pilanesberg Operations Base is situated at Absheni Lodge just off the main access road to Pilanesberg International Airport, 7km from Sun City Resort, and 1.6km from Kwa Maritane Gate.
Facilities include a lounge, a bar, a swimming pool and a large grassed area with some natural shade.

Team - Owners / Operators
Graham Field and Mike Rumble, the owners and operators of SkyDive Pilanesberg, are professional skydivers with 38 years of skydiving experience between them.

Having jumped at exotic locations across five continents and in 22 countries around the world they have an impressive skydiving and parachuting résumé which includes:

• Training and progression of beginner to advanced skydivers and parachutists, both civilian and military, across a multitude of skydiving and parachuting disciplines;
• High profile skydiving and parachuting displays and stunts for local and international brands, product launches and events;
• Skydiving and parachuting displays and stunts for movies and adverts internationally;
• Parachuting at high profile events locally and internationally;
• National Championships, World Championships and World Records.

Amongst many other thing, between them, Mike and Graham have:

• Parachuted into the Arctic Circle;
• Parachuted into the shrine of the Lord Buddha;
• Delivered a hand written message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu;
• Delivered symbolic soccer balls into football matches across Southern Africa in the run up to the World Cup 2010;
• Delivered various VIPs via tandem skydive into high profile televised events.
